At Rankin Veterinary Hospital PC we offer great boarding services for your beloved dog, cat, and other small pet. Our indoor facilities are climate controlled. We have an outdoor area that is fenced where dogs are allowed outdoor time weather permitting. Our facilities are clean and modern. We try to offer your pet a home away from home that is as stress free as possible.
Cats are housed in spacious cat condos with an open visual field and places to perch. Felines are in a separate room from canines and have a playroom all to themselves. Dog are housed in large indoor runs with glass fronts so they may look out.
Medical boarding is also offered if your pet needs daily medication to be administered such as insulin for diabetic pets or oral medication for various ailments.
Pets are under frequent supervision and are housed individually unless requested by owner to house two pets together.
Boarding pets are given a high quality food either from Hills or Royal Canin. If your pet requires a special diet we ask that you bring enough for their stay. If you have specific feeding instructions we try and accommodate them as much as possible.
If you wish, you may bring special bedding, blankets, or toys for your boarded pet. Occasionally a pet will shred a bed or blanket and tear up a toy so we ask that you be understanding if that happens.Should a medical need arise with your pet while being boarded Dr. Rankin will treat for the need and he will try and reach you as quickly as possible.
Pets as well as people when housed in close proximity to each other can spread diseases amongst each other. In order to reduce this possibility Dr.Rankin requires your cat or dog to be fully vaccinated and free of internal and external parasites.
A negative fecal test is required within the last 6 months. If needed Dr. Rankin will conduct a fecal test on your pet and deworm them if need be at normal hospital charges. If your pet has fleas or ticks when brought in for boarding Dr. Rankin will administer an oral medication to eliminate them again at normal hospital charges.
Required vaccinations for dogs are Distemper-Parvo combination, Rabies, Kennel Cough, and bivalent Flu. All vaccines must be current within the last 12 months. Required vaccinations for cats are Feline combination, Feline Leukemia, and Rabies. All cat vaccines must be current within the last three years.
Booster vaccinations can be done at the time of boarding but initial vaccinations should be done prior to boarding. Dr. Rankin does not recommend boarding of puppies or kittens younger than 4 months due to their susceptibility to diseases unless it is an absolute necessity.
